Roof Slates

Make You Choice Between Roof Slates And The Standing Seam Roof

Building a home can be a very thrilling and satisfying event in a persons life. This is the place where they will stay and live for possibly the rest of their life. A lot goes into the process of designing and building a new home. You have to think what you would want your home to look like and the style you are after. All of which with a budget in mind of course. One thing, though, to keep in mind is the roof. Yes, that is one thing a lot of people will look at when they pass by your new home. Slated roofs are one of the many styles to use for roofing.

Slate is a natural stone, usually produced and manufactured by a mining process. Places such as the United States, Asia, and South America produce slate. Slates are used for many purposes. Most commonly for roofing. Slate can come in a multitude of colors, such as green, purple, grey, and black. So you will have a good variety of colors to choose from. Pick a color that suits you. Another thing to look for is the type of slate you would want to use. Smooth slate tiles are commonly used these days.

Now here comes the most dreaded part. The pricing of slates. Well, the cost of slate roofing can vary. It all just depends on what type of slate you would like to use. The prices can range from 10 to 40 dollars per square foot. The prices can also go by the design of the roof and the height of the building it self. Roof Slates will help with the style of the building and the possible resale value of the home.

There are many reasons why your should consider to choose slate besides for style. Slate comes from the earth. So if time comes that you want to either replace the slates or completely remove the slate for another style, you can have it put back into the ground. The concept is very economically sound. So keep the environment in mind when you choose your roof style.

Another very important thing to consider is that roof slates are highly fireproof. That is something to be conscious of when you decide on which roofing material to use. Slates are the most reliable choice when it comes to picking the material to use for your roof. Slate roofs are not the only route to take when choosing a roof, although it is the most highly recommended.

You may also consider a seam roof. A standing seam roof is made of steel. When thinking steel, the most common thought would be the weight. But surprisingly a square foot of metal roofing weights in at a modest 1 1/2 pound. A standing seam metal roof will offer up to 20 years of worry free repairs. They are also provide adequate drainage from snow and rain. This means there will be a less of a chance of a leak coming up. Other types of seam roofs are the standing seam copper roof or standing seam zinc roof.

From the environmental perspective, metal roofing is a far superior material because it's made of metal, which makes it fully recyclable. Asphalt shingles, on the other hand, are a petroleum based product that cannot be effectively recycled, nor can they last long enough to justify its detrimental affects on the environment. Our landfills are filled with asphalt shingles, but the situation is starting to improve slowly as metal roofing is becoming more prominent.

Roofing companies also need to provide the stores that sell these materials with the proper installation guide for tiles and slates because these are rather difficult to install and put up. These are not you average do-it-yourself kind of roof materials.

Roof slates and tiles are manufactured by bigger roofing companies. These roofing materials are the more expensive kinds and they have been used in many buildings for their durability and insulation. When these materials are used for the rooftops, you will need to reinforce your structure to accommodate the additional weight of the slate and tiles.

When looking at apartments for rent in the classifieds section of your local newspaper, you will find information about the number of bedrooms and of the rental per month but there won't be any images of the building exterior or of the roof that beautifies the actual building

Spanish Clay Roof Tiles - Latin Style For Upscale Homes

By Wayne Hemrick
It should not be surprising that all things Hispanic are referred to as "Latin," since up until around the beginning of the Fifth Century AD, Spain was the crown jewel of the Roman Empire; Spanish is simply the Latin tongue as it has evolved and changed over the centuries (with a few influences from Gothic and Arabic). Likewise, the architecture of Spain owes a great deal to that of the Romans, who in turn were heavily influenced by the Greeks.
